Opera Sunderland and the Arts Council of England commissions a new opera as a companion piece to Stravinsky’s ‘Soldier’s Tale’. The work is redemptive, forward looking and celebrates those things that people value most.
Composer Marcos Fernandez and librettist Jacob Polley use their inspirational material to create a new opera, containing music, drama and performance which will stand beside Stravinsky’s original, as a statement of optimism and confidence about those things people treasure.
The work will be produced by Opera Sunderland, with Alison Barton (Artistic director), Marco Romano (Music director) and Annie Rigby (Theatre/Stage director) to be premiered in 2019 in Sunderland (UK). More information coming soon.
